Inshore Wrightsville Beach Fishing Charters
The inshore fishing around Wrightsville Beach offers many options for the novice and experienced angler. The geography itself allows us to fish tidal flats and grass lines for trophy inshore species such as redfish, flounder and speckled trout. With countless dock systems spread out around Wrightsville Beach, this creates great habitat for all inshore species as well as big sheepshead. Another favorite target spot of ours is the numerous tidewater creeks that funnel into the Intracoastal Waterway behind Wrightsville Beach that can offer great fishing, especially for nice size flounder. We are fortunate enough to have a jetty system that runs out into the ocean creating a mega structure for fish to hunt on. A client favorite is the fall bull redfish run that produces fish upwards to 60 pounds.
Nearshore Wrightsville Beach Fishing Charters
Just beyond the shoreline of Wrightsville Beach lies great nearshore structure consisting of ledges and artificial reefs. This is where the offshore and inshore fishing overlap into one another. This gives the angler a chance for inshore species such as flounder, drum and trout but also a shot at ocean pelagic such as cobia and king mackerel. Let’s not forget about the great bottom fishing for reef complex species that inhabit offshore waters such as sea bass, grunts and porgies, as well as a great trolling bite for Spanish mackerel and bluefish.
Offshore Wrightsville Beach Fishing Charters
We typically venture out 10 to 15 miles into the ocean on our offshore trips. As the spring migration of bait starts moving closer to shore you can expect to have consistent sight fishing action for Atlantic bonito and false albacore. Following close behind them are the king mackerel and cobia which offers exciting rod bending and drag pulling action. As the water warms into the 70’s in late spring, the mahi push closer to shore on their migration and provide a lot of acrobatic action that any angler could enjoy. The offshore bottom fishing off of Wrightsville Beach gives the angler a shot at constant action fishing on ledges, live bottoms, and artificial reefs. With BIG grouper, colorful snapper, and voracious sea bass mixed into the reef complex, there are many tasty options while bottom fishing.
